I spent several frustrating hours prior to getting into CQ WW CW this = weekend trying to get both rig control AND cw keying to work in = Writelog. Finally had to give up and go back to using CT, but

Problem fixed, thanks to Gil and Wayne's responses. It was so simple that I feel really stupid. The problem was that Writelog thought the radio was in LSB mode. So when I enabled rig control, Writelo

The problem was that both the rig and Writelog were set to "Auto" for baud rate. Once I changed both to 4800 baud, everything now seems to work fine. I suspect the problem would also have been solved
