Optocouplers differ only in frequency range what they can switch and current (on the transistor side). I prefer to use CNY17, which handles 110 mA very well. The 4N3x series are limited around 30mA.

I've previously gotten 4N33's from Jameco (www.jameco.com). I just checked their online catalog and it has them part no 41030 for 35 cents each. Keith WB6BIG Anybody got a couple of these transistors
