1. [Yaesu] FT-1000D Bandwidth (score: 1)

The shift control should provide the same passband carrier point regardless of the filter used although occasionally I need to adjust it slightly when going from 250Hz to 500Hz when using RTTY. It sh

The 757 needs TTL logic level inputs for it's CATt interface. I built an interface using the Maxim MAX232 chip. A very simple arrangement. I believe there was an article in QST a few years back or yo

A properly adjusted SSB transmitter will only showabout 30 to 50% of CW output on voice peaks (using an average reading watt meter such as a Bird 43) and perhaps a little more when speech processing

Personally I wouldn't consider the radios you mention to be an upgrade to the FT-920. They are really in the same class. For something better I would suggest the FT-1000MP/D, TS-950SDX , IC-775 or so

If it were me I'd buy the Yaesu. Yaesu service and support is superior to Icom and I've had many problems with Icom radios in the past. My experience with the IC-211 would be enough to swear off Icom

I'm not sure he has a problem. +/- 15 watts at 100 watts measured is within the accuracy of many watt meters. The Bird 43 is rated at +/- 5% FS on a good day. Who knows about the internal metering in

I haven't had this problem with the FT-50 or the FT-470. I have had a set of alkaline batteries in my FT-50 for the past 6 months with intermittent use and they are still good. It should be generally

I had an FT-890 for a short while. Basically a good radio, better than an FT-747/757/840 not quite as good as an FT-920 or FT-1000 (receiver wise). Stock SSB filter is wimpy and the upgrade is expens

My suggestion is to sell the FT-990. Several people I know who have owned them have had problems. I have an FT-1000 and love the radio but be advised that the Molex style connector which feeds Vcc to

I vote for the Maxim 232 chip. I built one up in a little box and it works FB. The FT-1000 needs a 100K resistor to Vcc on the digital output to the 232 interface. W8KX -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.qsl.
