My FT-1000D seems to hear CW intermodulation products whenever a band is full of moderately strong signals. Yet the measured third-order intercept is normal (and very high). Also, inserting attenuati

If you have the NB on high setting, strong signals can cause the blanker to distort the desired signal. Either turn he NB off or reduce the NB level control. That may be what'c causing the problem. J

Thanks to all who responded. Sorry I didn't think to point out that, yes, the noise blanker was off. I made some more measurements last night, and it looks like the problem may be high order spurious

I kind of notice the same thing on extremely strong AM signals (30+ db over S9), but not sure if it's on the signal itself (i.e. lact of spectral purity of the transmitter) or in the receiver. Just b

I've discovered something about my so-called "intermod"... One "spur" I get about 9.4 khz above a strong (S9+30) AM broadcast signal (when on LSB) seemed to be audible on both sides of the null point

Well after playing with my FT-1000 a bit, I notice the same thing happening. This intermod is apparently happening in the IF Unit, not in the front end. I can eliminate this intermod by cranking back

That's possible, but I'm not sure it explains how the strength of the spur varies linearly with the input signal strength. Perhaps the AGC maintains a constant signal level at the stage generating t

Scott, In addition to the audio intermod with dense CW signals, I noticed a very weak spur either side of a very strong carrier which can apparently be changed by adjusting the SHIFT or WIDTH control
