IMHO the additional BPF and TCXO in the FT-1000D aren't worth the expense. The basic FT-1000 with additional 455KHz filters for 2.4KHz and 500Hz is a versatile all-arounder. If your into phone or CW

I have just got hold of a Version 6 IC for the FT1000, I have Version 5 in mine at the min, but I want to put a microham microkeyer onto the FT1000 but it says it need V6 to work properly, Can anyone
