As much as this seems tongue in cheek, it appears that Yaesu released a radio with a ROM that just didn't work with a computer on ROM V1.2 of the 990. (according to feedback!!) So, I love this radio

Does anyone know how to identify exactly which ROM-Ware one has in an FT-990? Can you interrogate it via serial control? N6IJ has a privately owned FT-990 (owned by AE0M), and has used it extensively

A 'Las Vegas" power on will reveal the ROM version. Hold the/ "1" and "3"// keypad buttons down at the same time that power is turned on. 73, Mike NF4L / _____________________________________________

The "ROM" in the FT-990 was integral to the controller. There is not any way, short of replacing the controller to upgrade to firmware 1.3 from an earlier version. At one time Yaesu USA still had con

You mean to tell me that the controller does not have a 27265 EPROM just like the FT-1000D? That resides in a socket and can be pulled out and an updated EPROM put back in there? Perhaps that is the

That's the information I had. I no longer have a FT-990 manual set to be able to independently confirm it but everyone that I know of who upgraded the FT-990 had to ship them to California for the u
