Hi Cecil, Er...the IC-756Pro series does have 15 kHz roofing filters at the first (64.455 MHz) and second (455 kHz) IF's. Cheers for now, 73, Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ Scanned for viruses by Blue Coat http://

It is my understanding that the Pro III implemented a fixed 15Khz roofing filter like that used in the 7800 but the earlier Pro II (which I had) did not. All the reading I have done on the subject in

AFAIK, the original Icom 7800 had 15KHz and 6KHz selectable roofing filters. The 9000 has 15, 6 and 3. According to the 2000 manual I saw, it also has 15, 6 and 3. I understand there is now a free up

I am a bit confused about the term "roofing filters" as it seems to be a new term for an old idea. Is "roofing filter" today's term for a hardware, high-IF filter, to be used in conjunction with the

I believe the new term was first used when the filter in front of the IF string became selectable. The filters you are speaking of are IN the IF string. To my knowledge, in the past most good receive

So the filter operates AT the receive frequency, before conversion to an IF? Hmm... 73, Paul K4PDM __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the

It is actually a part of the first mixer. Keith So there is a switchable filter that works at the actual received frequency, before frequency conversion to an IF? Now I am really confused! 73, Paul K

The roofing filter is the 1st IF filter, and determines the absolute widest bandwidth which can be received. There are 4 IFs in the Mark V. The stock roofing filter in the radio is 15 Khz, a 70 Mhz f

Hi Jerry, Yes. In fact, a roofing filter is required by definition in any superhet, for image suppression and to reduce the statistical likelihood that strong out-of-band signals will ride down the I

Hi Keith, I first ran across the term "roofing filter" in the 1960's, whilst working for Racal. Roofing filters have always been used in analogue up-converting superhet receivers. Here is an example
