The commercial folks who rent my 120' Rohn 45G tower loaded it up with 24 heliax's and antennas. It finally went over in a measly 106 mi/h wind last week. The failure was a tension failure of one of

BN86: EVERYONE has cooked one. It arcs between the turns if you accidently drive it on the wrong band! Save yourself a climb in the middle of a contest and don't use it. 73 de Dave, W6NL (ex-QHS) --

I have a Hy-Gain LP-1009, and have compared it with a 204BA and other single band antennas. It does exhibit the broadband SWR, although it would be neat to be able to optimize it in the ham bands. Th

I've seen a number of ways to interface masts to the bevel gear of a prop pitch, but none of them seem to be really clean and precise. I haven't got around to doing it yet, but I intend to use a high

To first order, the wind pressure is proportional to the air density, so altitude should have some effect. I haven't looked up the relationship between pressure and density, but it seems they should

I have one RTS rotating tower and one with a TIC ring rotator. I'm satisfied with both. Re the RTS setup, I would recommend using at least two ring bearings (my setup has only one above the rotator,

There's a diagram of how to do this on page 10-21 of my book. You should have removable trailing lines on each end of the beam, so it won't rotate as it goes up and foul the guys. Also, you should be
