I have several "T" antennas for 160 M and in actual practice I have found the horizontal top hat is not twice the amount left over ie my vertical portion is 90 ft and the top horizontal of the T is 5

I checked with my friend, K4WZ, that has only a 75 ft vertical portion on his 160 T and the horizontal top hat is only around 65 ft which I would not think would not take up that much real estate. He

I may be putting my self out on a limb here as I have not modeled it but I think a "T' would serve you better than the "L" for DX'ing. Same number of supports and very easy to match. Per ON4UN a "T"
