I did some comparisons of the latest v1 Orion firmware and the current v2 for CW keying and clicks. It was a bit of a challenge, because I don't have great test equipment at hand. Nevertheless, the r

I was surprised that the QST review referred to the on-line discussions, mainly on this list. Their discussion was pretty even-handed, I thought. The tone in QST is definitely less bubbly and booster

Another way to say this is that if your TCXO frequency goes up by 1 ppm, your dial reading will go down by 1 ppm. (Neglecting the small matter of the unsynchronized A-to-D converter clock.) This is b

You still need a stable reference oscillator somewhere. You only cancel the drift of the first L.O. If the reference oscillator drifts by a ppm, your overall frequency calibration drifts by a ppm. 73

There are two technical issues here. Stability is not the same thing as accuracy. While you can track a definite warm-up drift of about 1 ppm over some hours, the stability of the Orion's TCXO is fin

Ed, Most amps, including the Centurion, will run on 120 v, but the problem is current. You will need up to ~30 A service on a 120v circuit for full power. Most 120 v circuits are 15 A; some are 20 A,
