I've got constant hum/buzz that is strongest in the 150 khz - 250 khz area and is coming from the power lines. It is around S7 on my Drake R8 (with a low noise Wellbrook 1530+). On my noise antenna (

The noise is highest at the electric panel in my basement (and at various poles), but my guess is this is because the house is a triplex and we have four electric panels. So far the noise seems to be

I'm not an expert, but my guess is that you use a ferrite material that attenuates low frequencies and enough turns on the telephone cable then it would kill the DSL signal. My understanding is that

I just bought the house and it is true that the wiring is a total mess (no ground, hot and neutral reversals). We had an electrician rewire the third floor (we had knob and tube wiring in the attic),

Author: Aaron Kreider <aaron@campusactivism.org>

I've got a wideband short burst noise. It is very short - maybe 1/20th of a second. It affects everything from roughly 0 to 20 mhz. It is weaker on the higher frequencies and dies out around 20 mhz.

Cortland, What do you mean? Do you want to know how much time goes by on the vertical axis? It takes about 25 seconds for the spectrum to scroll by when it is probably 400 pixels tall - so 16 pixels

Does anyone have experience using Cat 6 to reduce noise? I recently bought some Cat 6 cables as my understanding is that they've got more shielding. Aaron Rick, N6PE _________________________________

It isn't default, but I think there is shielded Cat 6. This one is called Cat 6a. Screened Shielded Twisted Pair http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Screened-Shielded-Snagless/dp/B004NPOPWW/ref=sr_1_

11. [RFI] EMI solution - ethernet cord (score: 1)
Author: Aaron Kreider <aaron@campusactivism.org>

I tracked down a source of EMI to an incoming ethernet cord. It appears that the EMI came from the router (a terrible EMI producer) into my computer and then possibly via the USB cable into the QS1R.
