Hi Dick, It depends on whether your amp has the QSK board B-6 or not. Non QSK amp keys a relay directly, The QSK version varies unpon whether your are keying the VOX input or Key IN, but either way,

No, I don't think so. I homebrewed one about 30 yars ago.Back then free pulls were easy to come by from one of the other local high VHF channels.(we were low VHF and didn't use them) Was a great amp/

You have to remember Bill Orr was talking about these tubes/Amps running in Amateur Service ..Not Commercial, therefore there is a big differance how far you can push these tubes in the two services.

My manual says the idle current should be 4 amps...If not, to check adjustment of R3 (bias adjustment)..If the idle current can not be set to about 4 amps (.625 vdc on the bases of the 454's) if not
