Shawn I operated the 2m amp for several years on eme. There was a problem with the 3rd harmonic which appeared to be a result of cavity resonances in the output compartment. I cured it with a 100 ohm

The article is here : http://www.pa3csg.hoeplakee.nl/Boek/BoekH1/art1-26.html This works very well on 432, I have tried it to see if the principle works. I used RG 142 B/U which didn't get that warm

Can anyone tell me anything about the Alpha 6 6m amplifier? I found a reference on a Japanese site saying that it uses an innovative stripline tank circuit. I am intrigued, are there any photographs

They are much better than anything that you are likely to have as a driver Theo. Based on anecdotal evidence (I have never measured one myself) I believe the GS35B to be 4-6 dB worse on 3rd order IMD

I would NOT run 3.9 kV on a GU84b, that is way too high, I have used the GU78B and I wouldn't run that much HT on a GU78B and it is a considerably better tube. Look at this http://www.nd2x.net/gu84b.
