Right. This is UTTER BS! Sounds like a pin 1 problem! Ten Tec gear is full of pin 1 problems. Yes, winding the keying line around a ferrite can be a band-aid for pin 1 problems. The catch is that tor

If you have RF feedback, it may be a pin 1 problem. Cable shields should go to the chassis, NOT to the circuit board. All the TenTec gear I have takes them to the circuit board and not the chassis, w

I suspect that the problems here may be related to the difference between balanced and unbalanced audio wiring. Virtually all ham gear uses UN-balanced audio -- as I understand it (I'm not flush enou

Based on the correct info from those who have the schematic for the radio, it seems clear that the Orion has an UNbalanced input. In other words, I was mistaken about that. If you want to use a balan

The transceiver doesn't have to be designed to be keyed by an amp, it only has to be capable of being keyed by a straight key. The amp keys the transceiver's key jack (as if it were a straight key).

Yes, this is the sort of benefit that the audio DSP in the Omni VI Plus, K2, and 746 can provide, although the Orion may do more and/or better. The outboard 599ZX tries, but is nowhere near as good a
