What audio frequency were you using? I normally (Orion, 1.372) set TX EQ to zero, SSB Tx filter to 3000, and SSB LF Rolloff to 50 Hz. You're only transmitting on a narrow audio band, but I would say

Yes, a 4" tube of copper flashing is the same at RF as a 4" solid rod, because of skin effect. But a 12" flat strap is probably twice as good (half the impedance), because current flows on both sides

When I run SP ~ 6 on 1.372, I get about double the average "talk power" seen on an RF power meter as I do with 2.056. I take it to mean that the v2 SP is effectively inoperative. Is that a fair concl
