Wow--can't believe that many would say that you don't need Rx antennas for DXpeditions to remote islands. There is ALWAYS a thunderstorm going on here on mother earth, and the ability to cut that atm

My observations here in Ohio would call last season a bit of a dud, and this one just about the same. It is my opinion that "0" sunspots is generally bad news for HF conditions. All bands. I think th

While I'm not a big gun in this matter, the fact is that being in the eastern half of the US is an advantage in any 160 contest where the simple number of DXCC countries or zones is a basis for score

I think "split" and contesting just do not mix very well. Especially on 160, I think you will just double the amount of space consumed by a given QSO, and double the chance that you will suffer QRM.

The QST article is a very "lite" version of the N6LF study. To get the full impact you need to get the QEX articles (7 of them I think) and you will find that for the most part the study says what ha

I have a couple of those here, about 150 feet long and they have at times surprised the heck out of me. My best one is made with very fine wire...2 strands of #26 I think it is, maybe #24, telco "cro

It is my opinion that there are two kinds of switching power supplies--the kind that are messing up your radio today and the ones that will at a later time. I believe they are not compatible with HF

Yes, the Dallas Lankford antennas work...I've found his ideas to be very helpful. Keep in mind that most of the advantage to all the "small" rx antennas comes from keeping the power line from being c

Lankford's stuff works great. I have used his antenna which does NOT use a preamp.....it's only suitable for situations where match to the feedline isn't critical, but it sure is great to not have an

I have one here and would not be able to do much on 160 without it. Patterns depend mostly on what antennas you hook to it. I have tried short verts, was not happy. Now use 2 aperiodic loops which lo
