I certainly feel for the ARRL DX contest participants on 160 Meters. I thought that the QRN last weekend for the CQ 160 SSB contest was horrible, and it was. But last night was even more horrendous.

Charlie, I use emery cloth. Just put a small piece between your thumb and forefinger, insert the end of the wire, and rotate the wire back and forth. About 20 oscillations and the enamel is all gone
