We've used exposed worm gears (88:1) successfully for many years on a tower trailer. It does require lubricant and should be replaced after ten years of use but they do work well. 73, John N2HMM ____

All, Since we're on a roll about BALUN's I have a question to the group. If a BALUN designed for 80-10 is used on a 160M antenna (say a dipole), will the impedance of the 160M antenna increase? 73, J

I agree, the QSO rate is slower than most contests and can be frustrating without the right antenna(s). The noise level can do you in too. My main antenna is an Inverted L with the vertical portion u

Depending on the conductivity of the earth the VF will change the length of the radials. Poor soil has a VF of ~72%. My soil is very poor! What I did with my Inverted-L is I put down 32 x 1/4 wavelen

I don't believe the gauge is all that critical. Mechanical durability is more important than electrical properties. I've used 16 to 22 gauge wire or what ever I had available to use. Four thousand pl

Hello, At what point is it prudent to switch from the Rohn 25AG triangular top section to the Rohn 25AG4 flat top section with trust bearing? Is it based on the vertical weight of the antenna or how
