Absolutely right, Bob. Throw in some loud linear noise, mic level too high, some RFI, too much compression, and you hear what I'm hearing in the contest this weekend! Ron N6AHA ______________________

You are right about that Lin. From what I can hear using the NR (2.032) Downward Expansion is an effective feature that makes CW easier to copy if the threshold is set just below the desired signal.

I haven't played with the NR much on SSB, but I do notice some bandwidth reduction, but the DE is still there. I does help on CW if you get the RF gain set right. Ron N6AHA __________________________

The "50 over" points up one of distinct problems in the O2. If that S meter reading was with the preamp off, it was actually about +30 and if the preamp was on, it was more like +15. I am hoping this

Scott: Any chance the O2 schematic will be available for download on the RFSquared site? I know the original Orion is on there, but I would like to see what's new in the O2 hardware. Thanks, Ron N6AH

I have determined that there is a distortion problem with some of the O2's effecting the audio quality. Like yours, mine is excellent, but I have heard at least two O2's on the air that were tested i

The Orions use the Analog Devices SSM2166 as a mic preamp and AGC, which can be driven with inputs of up to 1,000 mV with distortion of just over 1%, so it would be very hard to cause distortion in t
