XP (and other versions of Windows) can be changed to show file extensions. Open File Explorer, click on tools then folder options then the view tab and un-ckeck "Hide extensions for knows file types"

Thanks, but that didn't do it on the menu placements (it did do a bunch of other things like the rig and cw port settings). Also tried to use the save file to save the log file and that didn't do it
