Marc & Ed, You will find that the SteppIR beam will dramatically effect the tuning of the shunt fed tower tower. I retract (home) all the elements before loading on 160M. That way there is consistent

Bob, do it... It can't hurt the 'transmit' performance of your vertical at all and might help. I have done that, as well as connect my radial system to the electrical grounding of the house wiring -
