That's probably better IMD performance than any transceiver, Carl. However, a 4CX250B with 10 ohms of cathode RF negative feedback R, loaded to 5mA of screen current, has IMD performance that is com

Unfortunately most 4CX250 sockets have the cathode pin internally grounded to the mounting ring precluding any changes. Alpha had a screen circuit ( not tube) problem, QRO blew a 4:1 output matching

To: <amps@contesting.com> Not by as much as you think. All Eimac and commercial specs use dB below ONE TONE while the ARRL uses dB below PEP. So the numbers are really: AL800H -43 dB third order, -4

I can say that my 91b never failed either, at least since I purchased it back in May. Quite and fun to use. AS for the QST article: "During a contest, it suffered a component failure in the screen su

Hi Carl, I wish the ARRL would go back to the same standard the rest of the world uses. In a phone conversation, they said IMD deteriorated to the 30 odd dB range. They measured IMD on 14 MHz, and on

hi tom, pretty non-conventional, but the plate tank (pi circuit) matches from the anode level down to 200 ohms, then the transformer gets you down to 50, nominal. at the very leaset, it means you don

Nope, they do what they want to do. All that stuff about manufacturer's influence is sour grapes. I always use the conventional method in spec sheets. The AL-800H is speced at 30 some dB if I recall
