Looking at the B&W BBC-5K RF choke (for B+), it's in a can. Two feedthru insulators come out of the can to get to either side of the choke. Seems that this would be an excellent method to control the

It's not really a "can." It is PVC. Resonances are eliminated in this choke by a ferrite rod inserted into the coil form. This scheme has been well documentated in ham radio publications, and used in

This choke, and the Harris chokes have no resonances below 30 mhz. Harris amps can operate at max. smash on any frequency from 1.8-30mhz. The B&W choke is along the same lines. It comes with a spec.
