Best to pull old tube out before putting new one in. Be sure to pull plug, also. Seriously, the effort you put in to replace the tube with an air cooled tube could be put into finding a used replacem

You might also want to look into another version of the 8873, which is the 8874/3CX400A7 triode. It uses the same socket as the 8873. No screen supply required. Modification for air from the bottom i

If W6NQ is correct and the 8874 uses the same socket as the 8873 then the 3CX800 will fit also since it uses the same socket as the 8874. just another option for a nice little amp. lane Ku7i -- Origi
