Well, I got the fiberglas form for the plate choke and wound it bi-filar as the handbook suggested. However, when I removed the spacing wrap the remaining turns decided they had a mind of their own.

Carl, KM1H, once suggested using a little fingernail polish. I tried this on some coils I wound and it works GREAT. Just put a dab on the wire shortly before where you are going to apply the spacing

Since I have little patience for silly stuff, eg, trying to wind my own plate choke when new ones are available so cheap, I tend to go with the less painful route. Do yourselves a favor and check out

Sounds like a GREAT deal. However, what do you do when you run 6 KV on your anode? I'd love to be able to give my amp WARC capability some day, but I run 6KV. What is it about the choke that limits

30 turns is a snap! I think my choke I wound for my 4-1000 has close to 100 or more! And I kept damaging them for various reasons initially. So I think I wound them about 4 or 5 times! ARGH! :-) 73,

A source of ceramic forms for winding the chokes is to use the body of an old high wattage ceramic resistor (~100w). Remove the resistance wire and you end up with a ceramic form. The operative word
