I would to see data on failure rates of Chinese tubes. My personal experiences over the past 15 yrs or so with them have been 100% positive. 3-500, 572B, and two 8877, all Chinese. I have no objectiv

Or had the dipole up at the top of a 160 ft tower for low take off angle. You never know. Lane Coupled to all those antennas, no wonder you are loud. David G3UNA the slammer about now.. for 'ethic's.

Better get busy constructing some heavy duty open wire feeders while you are at to feed your antenna. I am thinking 8 gauge stranded would work great, say, with 3 to 4 inch spacing. Lane Ku7i Thanks

My TPO is totally dependent on the number of extension cords from the next room... one for the filaments, one for the screen supply, one or two for the plate ......... Don WA4NPL ____________________

LMR-600 and 7/16ths connectors should do it through HF, or get some surplus 7/8" heliax. More than likely even PL259's would be sufficient for 5KW. 73 Roger (K8RI) ___________________________________

That looks like a good driver tube, less glow than a 4X1 also. Typical Class C Ruskie junk but it might work OK as a GG linear or triode connected modulator in Class B. Price is no bargain either. ht

Be it the plate voltage on a GU81, YC-156, or pair of 811A's, one will kill you just as dead as the others. 73 Roger (K8RI) _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@cont

I was referring more to the heating qualities. A pair of them will reportedly put out 3KW of RF on HF. No fans required. They are, or were apparently fairly popular in Europe at one time. 73 Roger (K

A reasonably good 4x1 will do 1500-1800W with 100W drive at 3500V. Thats little different than an 8877, 4-400, 3-500, and similar at its happy voltage. Carl KM1H Roger, good point. Lane Ku7i Be it th
