Dick, That BTI amp is the only ham amp I know of. There were some commercial amps made that used the 3-1000 but I forget who made them--Harris maybe. This is one case where if you come across one of

A 4-1000 can be used in the BTI amp in place of the 3-1000. In fact, the manual even covers the subject. I had a BTI amp and did so. However, the voltage from the standard version BTI is rather puny
