I have a change to pickup up a good condition BTI LK2000 floor console amplifier. It has the heavy duty power supply (but is not labeled as an HD), includes the DL-2000 dummy load so it is a complete

When was the last time you tested those tubes at full power? What is the idle current? A MFJ 259B will give you an idea which way the input network wants to go. Carl KM1H ____________________________

I assume this is a GG amp? In which case the 4-1000 will do a great job. ohms. I'd just experiment with the tuned input a bit. Driving my old 4-1000 amp with 100 watts from a Ten Tec Omni V which is

Hi Kevin, The input impedance of a 4-1000A in "strapped" grounded grid is circa 110 ohms. A 3-1000Z runs around 65 ohms. Some input network tweaking will be necessary with a transistorized driver. 73

Can I ask a dumb question ?? What do you do with the Screen Grid ? Don't you need an additional screen supply ? 73, Dick, W1KSZ _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@

It gets grounded as well. I was actually going to suggest that he checks that all 3 grid pins on the socket are grounded. I guess if they weren't, (screen not grounded) then he would see no output at

Hi Dick Just strap it to ground and treat it as the grid. Sure, it lowers the amplification factor but if you have a modern 100 or 200 watt transceiver who cares? I did consider rebuilding my amp as

Hi Dick, The LK2000 was designed to be compatible with the 4-1000A; All the grids are grounded. A 4-1000A, in strapped GG, doesn't have quite the gain of a 3-1000Z. An experimental fellow might add a

No, the 4-1000 is wired with both grids grounded for GG operation. The degradation in the amplification factor is so slight as to be negligible. Don't forget that in the GG configuration the grid its

I would like to remind a point peculiar to GG amplifiers: there is an effect called transferred power. Part of the drive power appearing at the input is transferred to the amplifier's output and it g
