It takes 65 real watts per tube to get full output from a 3-500Z; one of those new 200W rigs are excellent drivers for 3-4 of them. Carl KM1H _______________________________________________ Amps mail
Hi, I bought a NOS 5CX1500A. I plan to use it in an HF amp. Sockets for this tube are rather scarce. Has someone tried to use it in a home-made fixture? I know, a tube is supposed to be used in the o
Looking at the 4CX1000A and 5CX1500A sockets I believe the breech lock components of the 4CX1000A/4CX1500B socket can be adapted. The 3CX1000A7 socket also uses the same components. Once the suppress
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think Henry used that in one of the 4k amplifiers. Henry still has a lot of amp parts around even though they are not building any more. It may be worth a call
The 5CX1500A uses a socket very similar to a 4CX1500. You only need to arrange to ground the suppressor grid ring. Compare the detailed drawing of the two tubes. I have some amplifier cabinets for 5C
I think the socket you need is: SK840. I think these trade on ebay frequently. Looking at the 4CX1000A and 5CX1500A sockets I believe the breech lock components of the 4CX1000A/4CX1500B socket can be
Trying to clarify what I posted earlier....the 5CX sockets appear in scrapped FM and military gear plus industrial amps as mentioned. I dont believe they are that hard to find but Europe may be an ex
I am fairly sure you simply mount some fingers to make contact with the suppressor grid on above a 4CX1000A socket. The suppressor grid ring is larger in diameter than the bayonet contacts. 73 Bill w
To use a 8877 in a 4CX1000A socket you have to shorten the center pin. It will bottom out in the 8877 tube. But after doing that you can still use the 4cx1000A tube ( but not in GG naturally). 73 Bil
Where did an 8877 come from into this conversation? Carl KM1H _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/amps
I'd like to see that done Bill! Jim W7RY _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/amps
