Greetings to the list, I could use some SME input on the above topic. First some history; I purchased the amp from someone who was driving it with up to 200watts input. I was told the amp was modifie

If that is an original transformer, the meter is off. There is nothing that can make the HV actually be 3000 volts at idle without also causing a lot of heat and smoke. There is normally about 10% v

John, Check to see if an attenuator network has been added to the input or the tubes have been biased to cut them down. That sounds more like what would be done to increase the drive. Yea guys, I cau

We should all hope no one would ever increase bias on the tube in a linear amplifier in order to reduce power gain! That would certainly be bad news. 73 Tom _________________________________________

Just for the record an Al-1200 with a good tube and normal plate voltage (about 3600V) could be a little higher with higher main voltage, the amp should produce about 1800 output with 100 watts drive
