- What spacing do I need between capacitor plates (air dielectric) for 12000 volts and where can I find tables for this stuff? Thanks! Michael __________________________________________________ Do You

- Michael, Air breaks down at about 20v/mil (.001) so for 12000 volts you need spacing of a least .6 inches. i.e., you need a BIG capacitor. Most editions of the ARRL Handbook have this info. 73, Bob W

- If you check www.cardwellcondenser.com you'll find specs for their caps at various voltages. They don't go to 12kv but they list a gap of .250 for 9kv. Frank W2FCA
