Hi, Last week I purchased a 77Dx" from an SK estate. The 3CX1500A7 was the final in my first FM broadcast transmitter, so I have always had soft spot for one. In this case with no ability to test it

The output Pi-L was tapped at the factory for single tube operation. While I'm not 100% sure, I've never seen a Sx version amp tapped any differently than the Dx. If you're inquisitive, you can alwa

I agree completely with Paul's comments. I had a 77SX for a few months and didn't care for the amplifier. Best I could tell, it was identical to the 77DX, except for the extra tube and changed multip

Generically speaking, I don't think the 2nd tube changes the tank tune settings - assuming the same total plate current and the HV is unchanged. What does change is the stray anode capacitance (Cout)

Paul, Thanks for the tip. I backed out the set screw on the vacuum variable and got a bit more adjustment on the capacitor. This should help on 10M. 73, George W2GS On 2/13/2017 1:28 PM, Paul Christe

Measured with a Millen GDO, self-resonance on the B&W 800 is near 24 MHz. The B&W 802 is better on 12m but I've been replacing the plate choke in my older Alpha amps with the RF Parts RFC3. The stag
