Class E amplifiers have high efficiency but what about gain and drive power. Some that I have see have about 10db gain but unlike tube type Grounded Grid amplifiers I don't think any of the input pow

Arent Class E monoband amps and pretty much with a 7 MHz upper limit? At least that was what I was told by an active E builder who had a 400W 75M AM amp inside about a 17 x 12 x 3 chassis minus the P

No, they are making class-E amplifiers up in the microwave range now. Naturally they don't have such high efficiencies as they have at HF frequencies. But broadcast triodes in class-C have been able

I should have been more specific. When using power Mosfets of the IRF and similar cheapies numbers which is what many hams appear to be using on MF and low HF. Carl KM1H _____________________________

Carl I'm using IRF510 on six (50MHz) to produce 500W in Class AB. Judged from my efforts to tame the beast, they should be able to switch fast enough to do Class E at least as high as that! jeremy-ca

There is not upper limit to how high in frequency a Class E amplifier can operate. The "final amplifier" operates as a switch and so the use of a tetrode instead of a triode would be best. At 75 mete

Pretty neat. I still prefer my converted SB-200 for portable use; 750W out and 35 pounds includes the power supply. And I dont have to worry about hurting it with 100W or poor VSWR. I guess Im not qu
