I have used a series capacitor to slow the blower speed down. Then place a temperature switch above the tube in the air path that will short out the capacitor when things heat up. 73 Gary K4FMX

On the FT-101 there was a mod to drop the fan speed on receive. It was a simple resistor to drop the AC voltage to the fan causing more slip and slowing the fan speed. It worked fine. -- Ron
