Does coax loss depend on SWR? Coax operating under high SWR must be able to deal with the extremes of current and voltage along the line, but are any more watts lost along the way than if the line wa

Sure it does (loss change with SWR). Specified attenuation is almost always at SWR = 1.0. It increases above that. There's a pretty good on-line calculator here: http://www.ocarc.ca/coax.htm Scroll d

All along the coax (with SWR > 1:1) the forward and reflected voltage and current components add vectorially. The vector sum of each component (voltage and current) is that of the forward and reflect

Thanks Steve and John for the info and explanation... de Randy, W7HR Port Orchard, WA ** All along the coax (with SWR > 1:1) the forward and reflected voltage and current components add vectorially.

In the case of standing waves, the loss of the line increases. Further, the power handling capability of the line is reduced, i.e. the line can only handle less power. 73 de Claude __________________
