I run a drake L4 and a Icom 765. Typically when operating CW I usually miss the fist letter when stations are quck to answer my CQ whick kind of kills the rate. Any ideas ? Thanks -- Mike Stokes KK9V

Mike, Since the L4 by itself is not a QSK amp, I'm assuming you're running the IC-765 in Semi-Break-In mode with the L4? That would explain the T to R lag. In any case, one option is to use an Amerit

Quite often the cause of the 'missing first dit' is that the exciter is making RF before the amp has switched over to transmit. The exciter sees a high SWR, and on rigs such as the 765, folds back th

Sorry, let me be more clear. The relay takes 2 long to reingage after I quit sending, therefore I miss the first letter from someone is quick to respond. It happened quite a few tms so I assume they

He's discussing the time from Tx back to Rx -- not a missing transmitted "dit." Again Mike, to overcome that problem requires setting Semi-Break-In on the transceiver to a faster value. However, real

Copy the amp keying circuit from Amp Supply products using a vacuum relay in the output. It will follow 50 wpm keying at 2KW+ out. It was a standard feature in the LK-500ZC, 550ZC and all the 800's.

You should install a 1N4004 (or similar) diode across the VOX terminal with the anode to the ground and the cathode to the RY1 terminal. This will prevent inductive voltage spikes from welding the co
