Very nice!! Are the plates really purple-ish, or is that some kind of photo artifact? I've never played with 3-400s, but you have me motivated to get some images of my amp at "full smoke" now, too!!

hi hi - to the naked eye the plates are a beautiful soft orange, not purple. I took these using a 60mm macro lens and Nikon D50 digital camera on a tripod - my guess is that there is light outside of

Speaking of photos with the cover off. I have taken some photos like these before and I am amazed that up close that my digital camera still works. I expect that some don't work in intense RF fields.

It's very old - 1966 vintage - I think someone rode it hard and put it away wet as with simple keydown ZSAC it glows brightly in that one spot. The newer tube to the right is equal in its appearance
