No problem at all. When I need a higher bias voltage I use HV diode modules. Regards, Larry N5BIP I need to replace a zener bias diode. I have a ton of 1N5408's. Any problems with using a string of 9

Hi Marv, Thanks for the info. I don't have any amps with a biasing need of over 40 volts. I'm really not sure of the IMDs and I don't have a spectrum analyzer to gather accurate info. The modules I u

Good question. I always wonder about the stability of forward biased diodes with current and temperature. Has anyone actually measured it?? 73 Tom _______________________________________________ Amp

OK... you all have sold me on the idea of using zeners instead of standard diodes. At least by using standard diodes I have determined the bias voltage I need. Now I have to find a zener supplier tha

Wonder if Frank, K2AW (Silicon Alley) still offers 50w zener diodes? He had quite good prices a few years ago when I needed some. 73, Gerald K5GW In a message dated 11/7/2006 3:33:12 P.M. Central Sta

How does a smaller diode with a big transistor fare (for example, see the very bottom of http://i5uxj-2.cln.it/amp/schemi/w6sai/w6sai.html) - or a big transistor with a TL431 as in the G3SEK 'triode

Go down to your local emporium and buy a 1N4741 Zener, a 2N3055 transistor, and a heat sink for the 3055. This will give you 12 volts at 50 watts +. If you need another voltage, just sub the 4741 fo

Sorry, I'm pushed for time at the moment, and unable to reply in great detail. The circuit for a high-power 'adjustable zener' comes straight from the TL431 data sheet. Both WD7S and I have used it i
