The 640 Socket does not have the built-in screen bypass. It has only one screen lead unlike the 630 that has several screen bypass connections . E F Johnson sold a screen shield ring that worked Well

RF grounded screens (Eimac socket WITH bypass) + total 10K resistor(s) hung from screen to ground + swamped grid circuit = don't need no stinkin neutralization. Period. Especially at 6m. 73 Dick, K5A

I suggested to the original poster that he make it a swamped class AB1 amplifier. He will get plenty of drive with a 50-ohm swamping resistor. The only tuning he needs is a small coil to balance out

Series-resonant screen bypassing works, and was not unusual in the days of the 4-125A or 4-250A 50 and 144 MHz amplifiers. It can however be difficult to adjust especially if there are 4 tubes. 73/ K

The 30S-1 is grounded-grid, not only grounded-screen, and also is cathode-driven. It uses RF negative feedback which is a very different animal compared to neutralization. The preivously referenced C
