Hello all, I'm new to this list but wanted to jump in and ask a question. I have an Amp Supply LK500-ZB with a fairly noisy cooling fan in it. Does anyone know where to get another that will fit? Als

I saw a thread about LK500 and negative grid current.  Was that ever solved? My LK500-ZB is acting up.   OK, I think it is my fault, the amp was on, but in standby and I was in the shack hanging a pi

About: "...No visible damage to the case, but now when the amp is turned on, but in standby, the plate current reads about 200mA and the grid current is pegged negative. Plate voltage is lower than w

Has anyone tried to blow a grid to cathode short with a high current pulse of energy? Such as touching the shorted pins for an instant with a car battery. At this point seems not much to loose by try

Gerald, Tried it a few times on 4-400A's. Sometimes it will clear, but always comes back. Didn't seem to be worth the effort to me, but might have been different if I had more than 5 bux invested in

Yep, I've done it and it cleared the fault ok. Only problem is that I am now too chicken to test the tube in the amp. 73, Alek. VK6APK http://www.qrz.com/vk6apk http://www.qrz.com/vk6py _____________

I understand that! So, you just keep the tube until it is the last one? Or, sell it to a CB'er on Ebay? 73, Gerald K5GW In a message dated 9/9/2009 5:15:34 P.M. Central Daylight Time, vk6apk@bigpond.

Paul... That was I that was requesting the info about the neagtive grid current on the LK-500 I just got done working on mine.  I found last week that the grid shunt resistor was blown and someone on

Thanks to all that replied.   At this point, I think a tube has gone bad.  Removing the "bright" tube, the amp can be loaded up and produces output.   Swapping the sockets, the problem seems to follo

It's good that you're able to move the trouble with the tube. First, ohm the tube out, each pin and the plate cap to each other pin and the plate cap; record the results -- or have someone else recor

It seems there could be a risk of excess filament current if the "wrong" filament pin is selected. To minimize the risk of this, both filament pins can be connected together and the "zapper" connects
