Thankfully Martin Jue was not running it. If he had, it would have earned the shame reputation that MFJ has for producing utter rubbish... MFJ has managed to suck the quality out of every company the

Profit and garbage is his business plan. Selling to idiot hams is one thing, selling to industrial customers is something altogether different. Ameritron has steadily gone down hill since More Friggi

I think pre-MFJ Ameritron amps were not as well built as post-MFJ Ameritron amps. The AL-84 is plastic and uses sweep tubes and the original AL-80 is junk compared to the "A" or "B" models. While it'

Yeah, I suspect the big improvements in the Ameritron amps came when W8JI took over the business from Prime Instruments. Its too bad the Jue doesn't pay more attention to quality. There are lot of us

The AL-84 was entry level at a time sweep tubes were cheap, import TX tubes werent available yet and domestice were expensive. They were made to compete with almost identical amps from Dentron and Am

Gentlemen, Bashing MFJ seems to be the delight of some. MFJ makes products that are affordable and makes hundreds of products for hams. I use a number of MFJ products and they work. The quality of so

Carl, This is the end of this attack on Martin Jue and any discussion on your part concerning him or his products. You do not need to purchase from him or his companies but there is no excuse for vei

N9AA is exactly right. MFJ makes what hams need at prices they can pay. There are often very good reasons that the companies MFJ buys are available for sale. I agree with the observation that the equ

I strongly disagree. When a company blankets a market with low cost low quality stuff (as MFJ and Walmart do), it usually pushes other companies with better quality stuff at a somewhat higher prices

I agree, Jim. Dahl is a great example. Dahl had a good following not because he had the lowest prices, but because he had a reputation for building a top-notch product. People buy Dahl because the wa
