hundreds of pF capacitance, which reduces with applied voltage. Your symptoms seem to indicate this -- the MOV's "charging" up to less C with applied signal, and it takes a while. -WB2WIK/6

Yes and there is no reason to have it there. A better way to feed DC bias to a grid is connect the DC to the cold end of the grid R, and double-bypass (perhaps 1000pF in // with 0.02uF) it to ground
