The only thing that I saw at Dayton worth noting is a change in the current Alpha 8100. The finals have been replaced with TWO 4CX1000A's instead of the 4CX800A7's and the amp has been relabeled eith

The new Alpha amp that runs a pair of 4CX1000A's is the 8410. This amp uses a 3.6KVA plate transformer. Also at Dayton Emtron introduced their new DX2B which also uses the 4CX1000A. They are in the p

Ive heard that the 4CX1000's will be the Penta brand, made in China. I use a lot of Penta tubes for customer repairs and 6M conversions and Im very impressed with the quality and consistency. How com

Why have the Russians stopped producing tubes? From what I can gather from some people and sources is that Russia is in a state of economic chaos and making tubes is not something they have focused o

I spoke at length with Rudi from Emtron. The new DX-2B utilizes a single 4CX1500B, which has good supply from Chinese sources. He is preparing to also include 6 meters into the new DX-2B, which shoul

The same 4CX-1000A used in the 30-S1? The one with zero grid dissipation? That's the tube I've always said I'd never use in anything because it's so fragile or have I missed something? Isn't that qui

Zero grid dissipation is no problem. No grid current, no dissipation. The Chinese 3CX1500A7 seem to be very reliable. A company nearby uses 200 of them for about two years and so far no tube failure.

The same socket is used for the 4CX1000A and the 4CX1500B(p/n SK800B). The 4CX1500A uses a different socket(SK831). Increasing the screen voltage does wonders for output. That is how owners of the 30

That makes sense. The ones I had must have been the A version as they used a conventional type socket. It's been almost 20 years which is a good memory test. Now if we could still get the 4CX1600B wh

I would hope that the Russians or Chinese have a less complicated socket. It doesnt take much to work fine at HF. A rather scarce tube is the 3CX1000A7. It basically has the filament and grid ratings
