- I was in the specialty wire business for a few years. Nylon was not generally used as a sole insulating overcoat. The main use was for heat bonding adjoining wires coated with it OVER the wire insula

- It's not too good for transformer windings as the wire gets put under strain at each corner of the core as its wound. Later on, it can crack. But, I think they do make one type that has an extra coat
