Does anyone have any experience with the AL-800 - single tube amp from Ameritron? Good - Bad - Indifferent? Seems to be on the lines of the Commander 1250. Glowing reports on Eham - all five of them

Its simply another rather generic Ameritron amp. Nothing special, lots of common parts, minor modifications of a design going back to the AL-80. Just remember that 40W is maximum drive for a single t

I believe the 3 minute delay is to allow the indirectly heated cathode to come up to operating temperature. The HV step-start is much faster. And when you're waiting for the amp to "wake up" because
