- Hi, I have a Dayton pressure blower that puts out 820 CFM with a 3450 RPM 1/3 HP motor. If I substitute a 1725 RPM 1/4 HP motor will the CFM drop in half? Will the roaring sound drop accordingly also

- I think you will find it will reduce the output to 1/4 of the orignal. I had a similar experience years ago trying to go in the reverse of what you are doing. K6KWQ Dick "12 Volt radios are for wimps

- The pressure drop as well as the noise drop will be exponential. However, if a tube with a large anode cooler is used - such as an 8171 - a 1700-rpm blower will usually do the job, especially for SSB

- That will provide plenty of pressure at 1700-rpm, even for the 8171's big brother. cheers On Apr 11, 2004, at 10:31 AM, kenw2dtc wrote: The pressure drop as well as the noise drop will be exponential

- The comairrotron.com blower web site formulas show the CFM will drop in half and the noise will drop 15 db. Horsepower drops to 1/16 HP if I did the math correctly. 73, Larry K2LT drakerepair.com At
