The orig. relay is too slow for modern transceivers, so it hot-switches. The high-speed switching mod. costs c. $60, eliminates hot-switching, and it makes the amplifier c, 20db quieter on R/T T/R.

If you are planning on using a half-wave rectifier and C filter running direct off of 120vac to power the step-start relay, you will start with c. 150vdc under load, so you need to drop roughly 130v

The standard relay was a sealed open frame type. The optional was a SPDT vacuum relay with a DIP relay on a small PCB for the input. That same board also contained the QSK option. Carl KM1H _________
