I just wanted to report that I have been almost successful at converting my SB-200 with 572B's to 6 meters. I originally wanted to replace the tube with a GI-7B (and still may do so), but decided tha

the 572b tube is not rated to operate on 6 meters, the sb220 would be a better choice. i have a sb200 with a gi7b tube that some one started to mod and gave up, this fall i will finish it. bill nj2s

The 572B works just fine on 6M at full ratings. This is been discussed many times on here and should no longer be an issue. Carl KM1H the 572b tube is not rated to operate on 6 meters, the sb220 woul

I have had no issues with tuning my 572B tubes during testing, even with having the plates glowing bright red. Even though the tubes are not rated for 50MHz, how many other tubes are run outside thei

300mA for a pair of 572Bs is a lot of grid current...I suspect the output doesn't look very clean, especially if you can do an IMD check (which requires a lot of stuff most don't have, but maybe you

Re: [Amps] SB-200 6 meter conversionSince the grid position is only 200ma FS and 100ma is considered max I suspect it is a classic case of not bothering to read the manual. Carl KM1H 300mA for a pair

Actually the 572B is rated to 54 mc but maybe not to 54 mHz. It all depends on when and who wrote the spec sheet. Bright red plates is OK for a few seconds during tune up but is not conducive to long

I suspect so also. I don't think a pair of tubes would last long at 300mA Ig! ________________________________ Since the grid position is only 200ma FS and 100ma is considered max I suspect it is a c

Oops, my mistake. If you look at the SB-200 meter, my needle is on tthe 300Ma mark - approximately 50-60Ma grid current (half-way through the white line). Like I said last night - I was tired and it

If Ig is really only 50-60mA, that seems very low, actually. Should probably be ~100 mA when fully driven and fully loaded. At least that would be more typical for a pair of 572Bs. 73 Steve WB2WIK/6
