Gurus, Amp rookie here. I got a SB-200 fitted with 2 811A tubes. I was assuming that this was a plug-and-play replacement for the 572A. A local ham who has an extensive but not detailed memory indica

The SB200 *could* be used with 811A's IF you could find a way to reduce the hi-voltage to about 1800 (Max). But this is unlikely due to the SB200's transformer being one for the hi-v and the fil. vol

Going backwards from 572Bs to 811As is an unusual conversion because it results in less power. It's also unusual in that the 811A has a lower plate voltage rating, so the HV power supply would requir

This is like putting bicycle tires on a Corvette, because the normal tires are too expensive. They can work if you are very careful - but not very well Colin K7FM ___________________________________

If you're lucky the only changes made were to change the power supply from a voltage doubler to a half-wave rectifier. Without that change, the 811 (rated for operation at about 1250 volts) would ar

IMHO putting 811's in an Sb-200 is like putting a 4 cyl. engine in a Corvette. _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailma
