Hi All I was reading an article in an older QST about doing a conversion on a SB-200. One of the things they did was take the tuned input out and put in a 4:1 toroid on the input, as the input impeda

I know the SB-200 has tuned inputs. Two of the coils in this one are bad. One of the caps is bad. Can you give me a source where I can buy new coils for the inputs? I need the ones for 15 and 10 mete

There must have been a reason that Heath went to so much trouble to include tuned inputs. Don W4DNR _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.

The SB-200 was designed years before untuned SS rigs became common and the input networks were approximations for pi net tuned tube finals that didnt mind a 2:1 VSWR, especially on 20 and up. Tuned i

If you cannot locate replacements, and if the coil form is intact, then you can rewind the coil using similar size wire. If the slug is frozen, then you can carefully break the slug into small pieces

I believe that the 80-20 and 15-10 ferrite cores are a different material. Someone with the time, parts, test equipment, and inclination can run some tests as Im not trusting my memory on this one (-

Hi all, adding to Carl's comment: Tuned inputs provide the flywheel effect that makes the tubes easier to drive and improves IMD 5-10dB. That's indeed to biggest reason to use a tuned input. The impe

It is always best to have the GG amplifiers tuned input circuit as close to the cathode as possible. There needs to be capacitance directly from the cathode to ground. A pi network input is ideal and

While the below is an ideal situation it certainly isnt mandatory in many cases. Take the older amps with just a .01 coupling cap for the input that are regularly in use with a SS exciter. The variou

One way to add a tuned input with little fuss is to place a "tee" connector at the input of the SS amp and connect a parallel resonant LC circuit at the tee. Make the LC circuit have a Q of between 3
